Actor Arun Bakshi, who has worked on several occasions with Salman Khan, said that the star’s career has last this long because of his inherent goodness as a person. Describing Salman as a ‘darling aadmi’, Arun recalled how he’d praise others even when they weren’t around him, and he would do this because he genuinely appreciated them.
On one such occasion, Arun said in an interview with Bollywood Thikana, Salman heaped praise on Govinda. “He always tries to boost his friends and praise them behind their back, and doesn’t even ask for credit. While shooting Kyon Ki, Salman told me, ‘Yaar, yeh jo Govinda hai na, yeh teen Khan — Shah Rukh, Aamir aur Salman — yeh teen ke barabar ek Govinda hai (Govinda has more talent than all three Khans combined).” Arun said that he believes in passing forward praise like this, and so he told Govinda what Salman had said about him when they met in Hyderabad. And Govinda was very grateful.
Recalling the first time he bonded with Salman, Arun said that they were working on a film titled Patanga, which was never released. He said that while shooting a scene, he began feeling that his character was overshadowing Salman, and so, he went over to him and gave him a couple of suggestions that he hoped would make both of them shine. Salman was impressed, and he offered to drop him home afterwards.
Recently, another of Salman’s old collaborators, director Anil Sharma, also praised the actor. He told ETimes, “Khan sahab ke saath toh bohot maza aaya (I had a great time working with Khan). People say that he is a drunkard and he goes to parties. These are all nonsense claims. Salman may have a drink or two to relax in the evening like any other person, but he is only focused on his work.”
