University security chief held with drugs

BAHAWALPUR:

Police arrested Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) Chief Security Officer Ijaz Shah and reportedly seized ice (crystal meth), aphrodisiacs and objectionable videos of university officials and students from his two mobile phones.

According to an FIR registered by SI Mohammad Afzal Nawaz, a car was signaled to stop at a picket within Baghdad Al-Jadeed Police limits. Seeing the police, the driver tried to escape, but the policemen stopped the car. Officers searched the car and seized 10 grams of Ice and an aphrodisiac from the driver, who introduced himself as the IUB chief security officer.

It was claimed in the FIR that two mobile phones were seized from the suspect, which allegedly contained explicit videos and photographs of women.

According to the police, Shah confessed to using and selling Ice on campus and the objectionable photos and videos were of staff members and students from various departments of the university.

Baghdad Al-Jadeed Police Station SHO Abid Hameed told The Express Tribune that police had searched the car as part of ongoing efforts to eradicate drug dealers from educational institutions. IUB spokesperson Shahzad Khalid said the matter was also being investigated internally.
